7-3-14 – Thursday – Miles City, MT to Three Forks, MT

Huge old cottonwood trees filled the Miles City KOA campground and their cotton seeds filled the air so that it looking like it was snowing. We saw our first snow capped mountains nearing Big Timber, MT on I-90. Just by chance, we witnessed our odometer turn over to 40,000 miles. This momentous event happened near Wineglass, MT. Cheers!

... i have met in awhile. This year has been kind to us, allowing a steady friendship to form. 'There is no public transport to or within Yellowstone National Park'... Ok yeh, that's a great idea considering the millions of visitors it gets a year - apparently during peak season, when I went, it gets approximately 30000 visitors a day. ... rings and fried Texas toast. Delicious! Walked off lunch with a quick stroll around the streets surrounding the bar. Town seemed down and out with many very run down houses for sale. Highlights of the walk were the local castle (really just a two storey stone house), a deer that we startled in someone's garden, a beautiful Blair, and a toy moped that the gypsy could not help but jump on. ... but Mike typically believed that he safely wrestled the car to a standstill & on checking, the tyre hadn't blown, but a section of 'tread' had partly peeled off. Fortunately we were past the busy narrow section right up the top, but were still 15 kms from the town, no phone or computer service. Mike thought he would try again to get the spare tyre off, so off with the bikes and this time, the lock opened, so he could change the tyre.
