Friday 30th May

We left a rainy Solsona this morning and decided we would head back into Andorra (it was more or less on the way) to stock up on food and cheap alcohol. We had lunch in the supermarket restaurant and then headed back into Spain to Espot. The scenery along the route was beautiful as we climbed up winding roads to the top of mountain passes. We stopped in the village of Espot to visit the National Park office for information on walking. ...

As we set off the rain stopped but it was still quite chilly. The river flows past the campsite and through the town. Swollen with snow melt it is one of the fastest flowing rivers we have seen.

As we negotiated the one way system it became obvious there was some sort of Fair or procession going on, with bands and a group of men in long costumes with banners, followed by people on horseback.- and guess what ended up at the Tail End of the parade - a great big white motorhome!!

... keep their punters alive in the snow and wild when things go wrong - build ice shelters, avalanche rescue and navigation etc. They also appear to get extra points for glasses of red wine drunk it seems! It's been brilliant having them all here, we have met such a great group of people. So many different stories of what they will be doing with their new qualifications (all 24 passed which is apparently unusual, Ben and I think this is down to our TLC). ...
