Friday Oct 10 Agriturismo Le Arcate provided the best breakfast of our trip, only hope the photo does it justice. We set off this morning to a Grappa Distillery; our memories of Grappa go back to the 70s and the memories are rather dim because it could only be described as the local rocket fuel. The Marollo Distillery prides itself in producing Grappa of the very highest quality ...

An old gentleman greets me at the door. He speaks no English but soon has his granddaughter on the phone. It is she who runs the B&B and her English is good. It's a bit pricey at €39 with a DIY breakfast provided in the room.

... gradually tiring from km after km of 8-9% gradient. Being savvy cycle tourists, we were only carrying the bare essentials, including 4 kilometer stone souvenirs from our previous 4 mountain passes, 2 toy cats, 3 Lego men, 4 spare breakfasts, 4 spare lunches and 2 spare dinners. Despite our savvy packing, we were once again unnecessarily weighed down by hitch hikers (flies). How dare they! I'm sure we would've been heaps faster without them... The views ...

... amp; rainy. We passed a big ski resort Valberg. Once over the top the Italian route down was narrow and it seems they're not so keen on edging the road! It was thick cloud and visibility was pretty poor! We made it down in one piece, phew! Don't think we'll do it again in a hurry! We drove on for around 30km to get to our next site 'il Melo' a Bonny spot on the outskirts of a little town. We're the only campers here, there are ...
