... horses'. Cappadocia was also the centre of the Silk Road and we learn that the strange "ant-hills" are called 'fairy chimneys'. The fairy chimneys were formed 50 million years ago in a volcanic eruption, but are predicted to last only another 20-30 years (not million) due to erosion!!

Our guide, also called Ramazan, was the king of bad jokes, but had us laughing all day long! He explained the most common Turkish men's names ...

... Ilhara Valley for a 3-4km walk along the valley floor beside the Melendiz River. In Selime we scramble up and through a big monastery carved into the hillside. Lastly to Pigeon Valley (across from our hotel) where the pigeon houses appear to be largely abandoned. Pigeon poo used to be the main form of fertiliser in these parts.

... from the scooter the other day! He asked where we were going but he had to go close his shop so would be 20mins. He wanted us to come with him and wait then get dropped into town, we knew it would just be quicker to keep walking so off he reluctantly drove alone haha. No other offers for ride, arrived in the town at Abbas' cafe just before we got too hot and sweaty. Sat outside and ordered a bowl of the owners mum award winning lentil soup! It was delicious. We weren't sure what else ...

Ecicleys which has a ton of snow on it and visits to many of the local mosques and the bazaar. Then we were just flying over the Red and Rose Valley, sometimes going really close to the rocks. It was a superb experience to see the valleys full of different balloons overflying this natural wonder. I’m not sure what was more impressive, if the rocks itself or the balloons flying over them but the mixture between both made this a really amazing experience. In the beginning we weren’t sure if we should have taken this balloon flight since it was so expensive ...
