    ... reach the top, the first to the top of Morro da Urca and then another to the top of Po de Aucar itself. The views from the top of both are spectacular and well worth the effort.     ... opportunities and are severely discriminated against for living here. Even the buses change the name of where the bus started having left the favela as the middle classes are so anti and scared of the favelas. Are glad we did the tour and apparently the inhabitants are glad that tourists are interested as there is so much misinformation about the favelas. Do feel a bit weird about going to see people who live in such poor conditions ...

    ... but I think Ill be returning to sunny St.Neots instead!!. We were supposed to leave for Paraty on Thursday but as my cash cards are currently in Brazillian customs (they should only be another couple of days!) we have stayed on at the Guesthouse where our hosts Roberto and Dirk really know how to look after you. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow as Rio is a little expensive, but I can think of much worse places to be ...
