Zum Glück haben wir im Motelzimmer übernachtet, dass war wohl ein Wink des Schicksals. Denn die Innentemperatur im Camper zeigte -2 Grad an.

Heute fuhren am St. Lorenz-Strom entlang nach Levis. Am Abend gönnten wir uns ein feines Schweizer Käsefondue. Mahlzeit!

... the Citadel, a fortified military base that is still in use today. We venture into the Chateau Frontenac overlooking the harbour and there at the dock is our ship. We brave the cold as long as we dare and decide to end the tour and board our ship early.

We depart mid afternoon to Toronto and catch a delayed connection to Quebec City to arrive very late Thursday evening. Our stay is at a the Hotel Chateau Laurier, a mid range full service hotel adjacent to the Military Armoury. The room is small but the price is just right. There is a St Hubert Chicken in the Hotel - this place also serves breakfast.

... amp; Jacques - French mother tongue but competent enough in English to communicate with their English patrons - Jacques seemed a bit more comfortable with English than Dianne did. Their home, situated high on the banks of the St. Lawrence, looked directly across to old Quebec City and the Chateau Frontenac. We discovered later it would have been somewhere very close to here that the English dug in their cannons and mortars and began the relentless shelling of Quebec ...

... a stunning piece of architecture with great vaulted ceilings and a myriad of little and not-so-little chapels tucked into every corner. Great pillars at the rear of the sanctuary were festooned with crutches and canes and the like for which the faithful had no further use. Now we had only fifteen minutes to traverse the three miles across the city to catch our bus. Fortunately our destination was just off the main highway through the city and the lights were kind. The driver actually loosened up now we were underway and became chatty and friendly. "We'll be there in time." He assured us.

We travelled through North Dakota and Minnesota, stopping for a couple of days with yet another cousin of Carie's, Leslie in St. Paul. ... Sydney, Auckland, Nadi, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Locations are set, dates of tickets are not. She gave me the tickets with great flair. I noticed that they were not in the correct name. Duh. I was just about ready to strangle the woman. She then had to re-order them all over again by which time there was not enough time to order the BritRail tickets but she said she would do that tomorrow, Saturday, when she assured me they were open. What a procedure!
