The day started well with a 5€ breakfast at a cafe in Santhia. The Spanish/Brazilian couple had taken their kit out of the room the night before so as not to wake me and I didn't wake until 8.15. Almost civilised. With the leisurely breakfast I didn't leave town until about 9.45. Plenty of time for a flat day. And the day went fine. Lovely and sunny again, no problems. Yesterday and today ...
... All started at Gt St Bernard's Pass. And I had my first pilgrim's meal. Local restaurant offering a 10€ menu for pilgrims. 2 courses plus coffee, bottle of water and carafe of wine. Very good. Only downside is the odd couple want to put lights out already (9.20) and are getting up at 6am. What on earth! It is only 17 miles to the next town. They must want to get there for lunch. I think I need my own room ...

Around 8.30pm we decide to head out and find a cafe.....in the dark the shutters have come down on the shops and there yet more graffiti....even the shutters that have had professional graffit have been graffitied.....and then that's been graffitied over. It gives the place a late 80's New York ...
