... to the family of her husband. Located in a rural setting, it boasted a good location looking out over rich farmland originally claimed from the high tides of the Bay of Fundy by the Acadian pioneers. Elaine herself, was from Prince Albert Saskatchewan, moving to NB with her husband after many years together on the West Coast. When it became apparent that he was the only one left in the family who might be interested in living in the ‘family home’, they made the decision to ...

On to Moncton

Monday, September 7 – To Moncton N.B.... Following an early "continental" breakfast, whose sole merit was that it was free but still way too dear, we were on the road again. At Riviere-du-Loup the Trans Canada Highway dives to the south east and, symbolic perhaps for the disdain of Quebec for the impoverished economy of New Brunswick, becomes a two lane highway virtually all the way to Edmundston. After a thousand kilometers of divided highway ...

Walk on the Ocean floor

The weather is wet and dreary but our experience is exciting and invigorating! Cape Enrage gave us an afternoon and evening of changing skies and gave us great opportunities for memorable photos.
It was awesome to walk on the ocean floor and feel the vastness of the rock formation. Tides the height of a four store building rush through this Point. This definitely one of the great Marine Wonders of the World.

Moncton - Hopewell Rocks

... get one like that for Fred) right near Magnetic Hill, he begged to go. So it looks like tomorrow we will be spending it sitting in the sun all day. Oh no. Twist my arm. We got lost again driving around Moncton - of course- and when we finally found the campround I was disappointed. Another backwoods country moment although instead of Deliverance, the cast of Carnavale is running the show this time. The people were actually very nice and the dog named ...

Rocks 'n stuff

Spent the morning doing the tourist thing - went to an Acadian museum, visitors' centre, etc. The most eventful part of today was a short afternoon drive from Moncton to Hopewell Rocks, which is in (on? near?) the Bay of Fundy, the site of the highest tides in the world. It was actually quite a hike to get from the visitors' centre to the flowerpot rock formations, but definitely worth it to see ...

Moncton!

... fluids? That happened less than 2 weeks before we were supposed to fly from Toronto to Moncton.

I bring this up because it explains why my mother insisted that we get to the airport 2.5 hours before our departure, even though airport guidelines suggest arriving only 60-90 minutes before domestic flights. She thought that the security lines might have been long, which they weren't. Given the fact that ...

Anne of Green Gables

... this property and dreaming of Gil, Anne, Diana, The Cutheburts...it was all coming back to me. We headed for our next Province, New Brunswick. Just before Federation Bridge, we took the opportunity to fill up on cheap gas. I also wanted to make sure that we had change for the toll over the Bridge. The attendant looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked her to give me 50cents and $1 for the toll ...

He was having lunch at Auntie Crae's the same time as me. I spied him again after dinner as I took my last walk around the city before I left Wednesday morning. The weatherman was wrong again on Wednesday. Cold ...
