... a place to stay and ended up in St. Émilion, what a town, it is just beautiful and old, 8-12th C old monastry old! After a look around we had a drink in the sunshine then returned to our hotel to change for dinner. Breakfast at the hotel this morning. Was able to order some scrambled eggs - I'm positive they cooked them in cream. They also serve cheesecake for breakfast as part of the buffet!! I can't believe how cold it is - it's about 8deg at the moment and raining. I have all my winter woollies on including thermals, gloves, beanie, neck warmer, scarf and stockings under my jeans - it's ridiculous. The locals tell me it was up to ...

Up early and away on our journey to Spain. No spectacular things to stop for, especially as there was quite extensive sea fog early on. Made more strange as it was very windy. Ran out of that as we were part way across the Pyrenees. Interesting trip though, lots of little Spanish villages, very picturesque, basque, Castilian. Plenty of tunnels of varying lengths. Makes for a much quicker trip of course. Some ruins of some of ...

Left hotel at 8.30 after a nice breakfast, in a very crowded space. Really good to be getting to know many on the trip. All seem really nice. Anyway - took a while to get out of Bordeaux, seemed to be harder than Paris. Headed to Biarritz for lunch, about a 2 hour drive. What a wonderful place, can see why it is so very popular with the rich and famous. The Grand Palace Hotel, Was originally built as a royal palace for napoleon's nephew, also an emperor. ...
