I haven't come this far to not 'get a better view of the Pyrenees Mountains which I see in great detail during each year's Tour de France. Lourdes rests at the base of this great mountain range. To get a 360 degree view I needed to reach the summit of Le Pic de Jer ??? The city bus got me to the funiculaire which would then ascend the mountain. Anyway back up a bit! we wound our way this way and that as the GPS took us down narrow one way lanes etc before finally hitting the highway. Tolls all the way but travelling at 130 to 140km per hr it was not long before we were bypassing Toulouse and many other places we had cycled through. Stopped for diesel and ...

... Pyrenees and this is the birthplace of Henry IV a land of history, gastronomy, wine, sports and culture.

Pascal was a little stir crazy from sitting in the car wanted photo shoots. The architecture here in the Pyrenees is really different to the south of France, it is close to ski slopes and really had the feeling of a ski town.

We arrived into Bayonne in the mighty Basque, we are about to find out just how passionate people here of their region. ...
