Our first town north of Hervey Bay was Childers and all I could think about was the grizzly backpacker murders that took place in the area some years ago. Parrots aplenty enjoy daily feeding and many varieties of native birds abound. Park owners, Ron and Val Smits, keep a clutch of free range chooks who peck ...

... wave bashing, leaving the boys with their toys to master the waves. Turning to watch Ashleigh demonstrate a new braid style, I heard a roaring cheer behind alerting me that Andy had finally got up on his feet for the first time and typically I missed the action shot. The boys returned after this stating the surf is too short for any real action, to account for the numerous times they fell off.
