... many bumpy roads we were do pleased to get there. After going through customs we were pleased to be sitting on the ferry at 9am. We left at 9.30 and had a 50 minute journey to Kos. The journey was comfortable as we arrived a number of huge Gulets left packed with people off to sail around the island. Another late wake up, another buffet breakfast and then we caught the regular shuttle bus across to the Gand Yazici's sister hotel on Torba beach. As we ate lunch down by the harbor, a large parade suddenly passed by, complete with two marching bands, groups of athletes carrying their clubs' banners and an assortment of 1960s and 1970s VW Beetles. It was very puzzling at first (it seemed like an elaborate spectacle for 2 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon), but then we saw signs advertising the Turkish national volleyball championships taking place Thursday through Sunday in Bodrum.
