... side roads. I love it...and I love the fresh flowers - that are 2 Euro and so beautiful!!! We've been to some of the cafe's and I have made a mark at the local market when I took a nose dive on the side walk and then cried cause it hurt so freaking much!!! (that was the fall earlier referred to - not a different one - geez, I am not THAT klutzy!!).

Well, all good things must come to an end <---- and that is my cliche to end this blog.

Finally catching up...
Traveling from Venice to Bassana, we pass Padua (Padova) a town famous for the Bascilica of San Antonio. This was not just another church ...the peaceful, prayerful, spirit filled atmosphere was tangible. Aside from the beauty there was a reverence... No noise, no cameras, no crowds milling everywhere. ... dinner of delicious mixed salads and veg offered as a meze to the a la carte becomes our main meal...poor us we have been starved of good food....We all fall into bed early to restore ourselves for what is to come. Sleep comes easily in spite of the roar of aeroplanes every 45 seconds!!!!

... Calalzo for Cortina by bus (about an hour). After a nice amble through the town from the bus stop the uphill commenced. Lunch was at a quaint woodcutters hut in bright sunshine. Onwards and upwards for 4 hours before reaching our first Rifugio (Croda da Lago). This was a beautiful setting by a lake. Here we experienced the melody of the cow bells as they wandered around the hillside. The mountain Rifugios were a luxury compared to our mountain huts in Tassie. ...
