Arrival at 5th Lane House and we were greeted with cooling papaya smoothie (could have done with a stiff gin in it after that journey!) and shown our room. Basic but everything we need including air con and wifi. Ventured out for a much needed beer and bite and went to Sugar Wine Bar, great meal, lovely staff. Went for a walk along Galle Face Green and watched a load of school girls ...

We were all having a wonderful time and the time went quickly, aided by the apparently endless supply of beer appearing in front of me although nobody else appeared to be drinking. It really was great fun but it had to end all too soon as they had to again return the rig to the safestore. ... br> The roof top of the hotel was like a paradise amongst a war zone. From our luxurious rooftop, we could see derelict buildings and squallier. We could also watch the city trains going by, packed to the rafters with half of them hanging on for dear life out the doors.
We went to dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was good price and tasted lovely. The staff were sweet too.
