Leisurely Colombo

... a deep natural port but this is a container port and some way out of the city. This meant a drive through the port area which unfortunately appeared shambolic, impoverished and crowded, even today which was a national holiday. The road conditions were dangerous and it seemed true that, as we had been told, drivers just look forwards not showing any awareness of vehicles adjacent to them. Some highly dangerous lateral movements and lane ...

women were lighting incense sticks making the place pulsate with
color and smell. The colors, odors, and the crowd gave me an
overwhelming feeling. We continued to wander past colors of
saffron clothed monks, and locals of all ages. The intense colors,

Went for a walk along Galle Face Green and watched a load of school girls ...

It was a shame as I could have stayed there and played a lot longer but leaving a load of very expensive kit in ...

... br> The roof top of the hotel was like a paradise amongst a war zone. From our luxurious rooftop, we could see derelict buildings and squallier. We could also watch the city trains going by, packed to the rafters with half of them hanging on for dear life out the doors.

We went to dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was good price and tasted lovely. The staff were sweet too.
