... swimming a few laps. The highlight of the day was meeting my old friend Dr. Arlo Fast from my Hawaii days. Arlo and I had maintained occasional email, and phone contact for the last 30 years. Mutual friends informed us what the other was up to. Tom, Arlo and I went out to dinner and walked around and had a good discussion of I. M. Wemes books on Thai nightlife and cultural disconnects between male foreign tourist and Thai women. We visited an open beer bar with about ...

All the bars have an abundance of girls working in them, their job is to attract customers (mainly men) to sit down then stay and buy drinks. After lunch I we had a team meeting in the lobby and then the ...

    Well, that's that then.

It's been the best of times, it's been the best of times...That was at least until my very last ride out on the scooter. The evening before had descended into a Thai whisky and vodka fuelled bit of mayhem as we unwisely opted to change the teams in our game to a battle of the sexes. The first two rounds passed off peacefully enough, with Phil and I opening up a commanding lead, but when a suspicious points count up after the final ...

... and afterwards we had a few cocktails before heading back to the hotel.

It quickly became apparent, especially during the day, that we'd scheduled in too much time in Pattaya. Unless your going there to enjoy the services of a lady (or gent), then there really isn't a great deal to do. We spent our days lazing around the hotel pool, watching TV or looking around one of the many shopping plaza's in town. The one really good place we did find, and ...
