... down around the Golfe du Morbihan, the inland sea where 40 islands dot the gulf. We stopped for a picnic lunch in a park across the water from Saint-Nazaire. Staying near the coast, we stopped in Pornic to stretch our legs, buy some jackets (it’s getting cold), and have a glass of wine. Pornic was surprisingly nice, it’s one of those undiscovered places, off the beaten track of foreign tourists, but it was very busy with French tourists.
Day 4. Only done 280 miles. Lol. At this rate we'll only reach Bordeaux by the end of our hols. Best get our foot down. Trouble is.. We're so laid back and every where is so nice. 14.40 hrs arrived at our hotel in the city of Nantes. What a rush everything feels after being in the countryside. Parked car, Dropped bags off....lets go explore. Not our favourite city. Best ...
... s so giant that it takes 40 people at a time), we decided to leave early and plan an afternoon exploring Nantes while waiting for our elephant ride... ...turns out the tourist advice is spot on- we arrived at 11, queued until 12 and managed tickets for the 4.30pm ride. It was absolutely spectacular though! Loved by all Vance and Giraud members, perhaps a little more feared from the Vance family, but an awesome day out for ANYONE travelling through. ... trucks were having a break. Only one toll ticket for 3.5 hours and as we got near Nantes we came off to go to the lovely town of Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu we had to pay €51.50 for our days work.
The drive North was ever changing because very soon we had left the vineyards behind and soon encountered huge fields of barley many already cut and straw baled and removed more with combine harvester parked up ready to roll.
... it was really for walking but it would take you two days to walk around. We also saw a Battleship and Loire River and amazing barge boats and modern tourists boats, goats and gardens and chicks, (the feathered kind). We set off at 9am and got back at 3.30pm and apart from lunch and seeing the machines we were riding the rest of the time. Not hard riding, just enjoyable meandering riding.
