It turns out that Jacumba is right on the border and the new border fence goes VERY near to Jacumba. The fence appears to be about 12 feet high and is rust colored. It runs the length of the border except where it butts up against mountains. Those areas are very hard for the illegals to cross.

This image shows our location at this point as well as our expected track. It takes us south of the Salton Sea..not knowing anything about the Salton Sea I decided to google it and I learned some good tidbits. I asked Flat Bill and he gave me some weird answer that didn't match anything ...
Well, tomorrow morning, early, we'l be on the Baja Peninsula. We've had a blast! Seen a lot of cool stuff. Experienced a lot of this amazing country.

We realized we were just wasting time screwing around, and decided to hit the border and head down the Baja. So, today we got here in time to watch the second half of the Huskies game, tomorrow we'll gather ourselves and watch the Seahawks, then blow through the border about 8:00 am on Monday, maybe making it as far at Papallon Beach south of Ensenada. Excited.
After Ensenada, we'll get to Guerrero Negro and probably stay ...
