The day started out pretty normal with clouds threatening and the odd drop of rain. Our goal today was to head over into France once again via the col de Balme, on the border of France and Switzerland. Well me made it, but not quite as planned... After leaving the Col de la Forclaz we headed towards the hamlet of le Peuty, but somewhere along the way we missed a turn and ended up in Trient - this was after a fair bit of downhill... Up we go again and finally ...

Spent the night in Trient - not exactly the same quality of hotel or view from my window as before, but the constant cow bells were a nice change.. don't these things sleep? Today we make our way back to France over the Arete des Posettes, a whale backed ridge - supposed to be a gentler day of only 15 kilometers and 2500 ft elevation gain and loss. The high point will be the Col de Balme which is supposed to have a funky restaurant for lunch... -- ...

Paris to Geneva

This morning was an early start (6 AM) to catch the TGV train to Geneva. We had to take the metro to Paris Lyon, where we bought lunch for on the train, and then caught it to Switzerland. It was a bit slower than the Eurostar and took around 4:30. Otherwise it all went smoothly though. Once in Geneva, we caught the tram to CERN, the end of the line, and were slowly transferred ...

... side....there are many places that the only way to pass is for one car to stop and back up.....hairy! But Lake Passé is beautiful, amazing reflections in the water and yet the water is crystal clear. Funny part of day was an Indian (fully American looking) rode down to waters edge on horseback.....what tha? ...the horse drank and off he rode. Today marked the last day of Chris in his 50's ...the big 60 ...
