    ... ve had, among many, on this trip all came from Sophia's restaurant including easily the best cucumbers either of us has ever had. Such warmth; we were thrilled to be able to settle in for our longest stay at any one place during the whole of our month in Greece. By design, as this was the beginning of the end (day 21 of 30), we'd decided to have an extended stay in a small village and we knew we'd struck gold, eager to both explore the island and relax in this delightful small-town redoubt.

    Nea Moni has played an important role in the history of the Island beginning with the cruel massacre in 1054 and ending with a substantial earthquake in 1822. The church and monastery are still used today.
