... of WW2. The church was bombed, of course, and the fires were so hot that anything metal melted. They actually have gargoyles who had rivers of metal rather than water coming out of their mouths (pic 1). It was a really incredible reminder of the power of fire and the horrors of war.

If you were wondering the place I am, Reims, is actually pronounced nothing like it sounds. The person at my last hostel said that it’s not even a French pronunciation. The “r” is a rolled sound with kind of a guttural undertone like you’re going to hock a loogie. Ignore the “I” and “s”. So: Rrrrem
