... sketches of bodies, and particularly males, including a very disturbing sculpture of male genitalia in one of the toilets. I think I will avoid using that one.

It's time to make my way from Nice back up towards Paris and stop number one is Avignon. Avignon is a little town in France and is built with a fortress wall all the way around the town. I stayed at the POP hostel which hands down has the best hostel bed in Europe. Unfortunately I do not have a picture but hopefully my description will do it ...

... lovely lookout with a beautiful view of the Rhone River and township. This little town is very French with leafy streets lined with cafes. To finish off the day our group had a picnic on the banks of the river - it was so relaxing and beautiful. A quiet night in tonight- off to Nice and Monte Carlo ...

The Christmas night markets have opened and they are stunning.....the beautiful Christmas lights and the smells of Vin chaud (hot wine), crepes and roasted chestnuts, as well as the lovely Christmas crafts on sale.....so exciting!

From Paris took train to Avignon via Limoge & Montpellier. Avignon is a very old town dating back before time of Roman Empire. It has a central area surrounded by fortified walls and is next to the river Rhone. Also close by is Pont du Gard an impressive aquaduct built by Romans from 40 - 60 ...
