After getting use to the sound of hoot owls in the night we slept in until 8:00am this morning. We awoke to a low cloud level and cool temperatures but the promise of a sunny day lay ahead. After a pot of coffee (loved that after a month of espressos) and a light breakfast, we took a walk through the village of Noves.

Noves is is a very small village with only a few hundred inhabitants. At one time there were ramparts around the town but only a few remain along with a few ...

Day 71 - Provence Provincial

... just South of Avignon about 12:45. We were greeted by a Londoner who works for the owners. The owners are in the states for a holiday. Our Airbnb host met us at the Avignon Centre station and it was a three minute walk to our place. The ...

(From chatting to people in Portugal I understood there are no social payments, Spain I dont know because they dont chat). But, on day one, it is that wonderful mix of history and chic modernity. I even felt that I had ...

... up to the intersection with the Rue des Lices. The street is especially enjoyable on such a hot day, with the coolness emanating from the canal and the shade from the majestic sycamores. Strolling along past the ancient water wheel discovering the history of this picturesque street is an absolute pleasure.

We have had a full day of sightseeing in Avignon and it is a beautiful and very clean city. Residents wish us "Bonjour" everywhere we go, we smile ...
