The morning was quite brisk today and we thought maybe this was going to be the start of the cooler autumn weather we have been expecting. Not so. This building also housed an impressive Gallo-Roman museum of artefacts found locally. Very impressive. Auxerre is a much more intact medieval town than some others we have been to. ... to the top to the village square where we had a particularly delicious kidney lunch and then climbed the 18 flights of very steep stairs up to the top of the last remaining tower of the feudal chateau built in the 14thC. ... herb farm, where a husband and wife who are both biology professors have ten acres with four ponds, horses, a working donkey, and grow their own herbs and sell them to restaurants and pharmaceutical companies. It was very educational ~ we learned about edible flowers, how to grow saffron, etc.
We came back to MC house and she made some churros (we used to eat them a lot in Spain)

... exhibit ~ a world famous designer who had his beautiful costumes on display from the Paris Ballet and Opera.
Afterwards we had some crepes.
Now Philippe is cooking dinner ~ ravioli, duck, and assorted mushrooms.
We are having a really fun time and are being treated like royalty by Philippe's family.
We will stay here another day then Wednesday morning head out for the South of France for a week.
