... out for the week, and a couple from Australia on a 6 month tour of Europe. It was great touching base with them.

Tomorrow I plan to visit Amboise but knew it was too far to reach today (France is huge!), so I made my way to Laval and have stopped here for the night. In my effort to loose one weight this trip I have stopped for a pint and a burger, not sure where I read about this diet but it seems very nice!

... castle stands from the 12th century, really amazing and it's so much fun listening to Ella's take on it all (Why is it broken, HOW old, can we show Gma and Pa). Really beautiful and not a soul in sight! Got to a nice campsite...with a playground AND hot showers! We do have a shower in our van but trying to stretch out the gas means and in and out wash every few days! Lovely spot on the River although it has burst it ...

... ring a number to get the code to let us in. The hotel was in a beautiful setting on the river Mayenne, so we walked along the riverbank to a restaurant which proved to be more expensive than planned.
I made another ordering mistake, getting a plate of veal kidneys, when I was expecting a serving of veal.
Still, we dined well here and had an early(ish) night. Tomorrow was to be the hardest day of all and we needed all the rest we could ...

... not made easy by the lack of English spoken in this sleepy town. In a fast food joint, I ordered chicken nuggets but got a sort of chicken kebab instead!
The lady who ran the hotel did not speak any English but when I explained we had cycled from St.Malo she looked at us like we were mad. When we came down in the morning dressed again in cycling clothes she asked where we were going. I said Le Mans, and she simply shook her head in ...
