... Alps Adrenalin!!! A game I like to play while passing time is people watching and proved quite useful here. 'Andrew' seemed to be now where whilst I observed the random billy bob and jo blow cruising past, offering a more than stranger eye brow raise acknowledgement, all the while hoping that didn't think I had the hots for them and also that they'd not loose their **** and start trouble. My experience so far seems to be quite contrasting with the average stranger as ...
Grenoble, Rhône-Alpes, France mickeyj07Today is the first day of my spring break...whoo hoo! I will be jetting off to Germany tomorrow morning to attend the 22nd Annual Satanic Stomp, a two day psychobilly festival in Speyer, Germany. I will be meeting up with two Salt Lake girls, Kristina and Mary. Where to after that? Who knows! I am ...
Grenoble, Rhône-Alpes, France habeinfraToday, I have been on this planet 22 years. I cannot believe that this past year has flown by so fast. This is particularly strange after having Megan here last week. We met three weeks into freshman year, so we have been friends almost my whole college career. It was so bizarre to find ourselves discussing our upcoming graduation and our post-degree plans. In two months I will no longer be an undergraduate but the holder of Bachelor's of Arts....WTF.
Grenoble, Rhône-Alpes, France unluckycharms13... exhausting especially while going up. They waited for me quite often (thank you!) but told me they were impressed with my endurance. That definitely made me happy considering Nepal is less than a month away! We did what is called "La Moliere". It is the summit of a mountain (yeah, we surely didn't ski flat at all today) and the scenery is awesome. I love alpine skiing, but I have to admit cross country skiing ...
Autrans, Rhône-Alpes, France bfayolleThis has been quite an exciting week! On top of getting accepted to Pratt, I also had midterms this week. The French don't do midterms but many American universities are not comfortable with accepting credit solely based on one exam. So just the American students this week had midterms, which don't apply to our French courses, and only apply to our American schools if they require it. Seattle University is ...
Grenoble, Rhône-Alpes, France unluckycharms13... of this house. The front of the house has three huge glass doors which open onto the first floor which has no walls. The kitchen, living room, and lofted dining room all flow into one another. The second floor contains the master bedroom as well as Thomas's room and the family room (which literally says on the wall "family room" in English). The third floor has my room, Martin's ...
Grenoble, Rhône-Alpes, France unluckycharms13... chemin de terre, à mi-chemin dans la montagne, quand même complètement au-dessus des toîts, un espèce de temple couvert de graffitis. Couvert vraiment, couvert couvert. "Je me sens bien ici. S'il y a tant de graffs, ça veut dire que les flics viennent pas ? - Ouais, ça doit être un bon endroit pour s'entraîner. Mais les graffs sont nuls..." Des bites et des salopes par milliers sur les murs. Espace non-mixte, peut-être ? "Marque-le sur la carte. -Ok. On continue ? - Je suis un ...
Grenoble, France mig.qwerty... so we found a sandwich shop and got sandwiches and parked ourselves in this lovely flower garden for a bite to eat. It has always been a memory of mine that you can get fantastic take-away sandwiches in France and our time here has definitely reinforced that idea. After lunch and some pigeon chasing we made our way to our goal for the day: the funicular. Unlike the two in Lyon that are on the ground and travel via tunnels, this one is very James Bond ...
Grenoble, France mom2eae... next time I write!! Right I'm off to figure out how I can get up the mountain (no I'm not going to run up yet...I want to actually see how exhausting it is just running at altitude before I deal with the ascent..). Talking of training at altitude The French football team have been training at Tignes (ski resort not far from here) with some vague misguided idea that this will help them progress beyond the group stages at the world cup..hahaha...oh well!! Ok, a plus! Johnny
