... to the castle, it was so like the movies, turrets and a moat and drawbridge: gargoyles. It was interesting to see the slots that arrows were fired from. The castle was originally built in the 1300's and rebuilt in the 1800's by Napolean: Fascinating in another way; there was a film crew there filming for the series of Merlin and we watched some scenes being shot: Cool! The next day we headed into Paris, on the train taking three ...
La Chapelle en Serval, France chrisl34... from a snooty store clerk at the fromagerie after picking up a piece of brie to check the price. Aside from her though, the service staff in the city were were much friendlier than expected. I suppose Leanne's French language skills helped to elicit slightly better treatment than your average North American tourist. I must return again soon - a day was not nearly enough!
Paris, Île-de-France, France moinmotion... me the Chinese government has not issued any notices discouraging tourists from going to France, and I believe them," Ladsous said. The French Embassy in Beijing said the number of visas issued to Chinese tourists has fallen by 70 percent over the past three weeks, compared with the same period last year. In the first few weeks of this month, the embassy was issuing an average of just 300-400 tourist visas per week, down from about 2,000 a week over the same ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France happysheep... told was that Van Gogh instead of using soap and water to clean his brushes decided the best way to clean the lead infused paint off was to use his own mouth! I wonder why he had problems, hmm........? We walked up and down hills in this part of town, this used to be the hill outside of Paris that looked over it and was a little village that the artists stayed in, Paris has now grown all around it. When I say we climbed hills I don't mean little knolls, the ...
Paris, France wendy2007... off with someone stealing my precious dryer sheets that I JUST BOUGHT for 3.50 euro! Who steals dryer sheets? Then we went to the supermarket to get food to picnic at the Versailles parks. The clerk was being a huge ***** and yelled at me when I tried to pay the price per...uh kilogram or whatever they use here, instead of the price. So we went to make a withdrawel at the nearest ATM and it eats my card. I just about lost it. The ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France lmk... despite my **** french (almost non-existant i have to admit), we managed to comminucate on some level! The following day myself and cecile went around more of the city again - this time going to Notre-Dame Cathedral and Point Zero of Paris - right in the heart of the city on a small island in the middle of the Seine. The cathedrals is pretty impressive to be fair... big and lotsa stained glass work going on.. After that, back to the Hotel De Ville - which ...

Me made our way back via another bridge called Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim down Boulevard Grenelle. Exhausted from the long night before and and not getting to bed until almost 4:30 am, we decided to keep the day light.
After a nice afternoon nap, we decided to have a nice dinner near the hotel and just enjoy the city in the 7eme Arrondissement.
... Metro (minor iPod scare interlude). Eiffel tower was right where I left it and still unreal...but now it was about time for a beer! I made my way to O'Sullivans, an Irish Pub that came highly recommended so after a few beers I met up with some locals and we found a dinner joint hit up some wine and escargot a few authentic plates of French food, jumped the turnstile to the Metro to get back to the hotel and called it a night!
Paris, France mikejersey25... and a bunch of others. I liked looking at these a lot. Better than "Broken Stuff on Floor" - thanks, Pompidou. We also met up with a friend who's doing a tour right now, and the tour manager hooked us up so we could tag along with them to a cabaret! This thing blew my mind. At times, it was hilarious (bad), hilarious (good), and incredible. There were singing and dancing numbers (à la moderate amounts of toplessness), which I expected, but there was so much more ...
Paris, France fbombmoe... Pedro has left to go to the airport to pick up his mother and will return to the airport again later to pick up his best friend and sometime in between fix his Moped so he can take me on a tour of Paris on it tomorrow. So, I have some keys to the apartment and I am free to come and go as I please. I think I will soon go out and start my sight seeing of this vast city and maybe try to hook up with the Paris swing dancers later this evening if Pedro et all don't have any plans for me.
