I only stayed for one night here because there was nothing in particular that I wanted to see, I just came to see what it was like. I caught the train back to Paris and had to use a different train station because Paris has several, all of which have trains going to certain places. My metro ticket should have expired but the other morning it had worked so I tried it again. After a couple of goes it was accepted, Yes! Machines can be foiled, and then 'stole' my way to Gare De ...
Dijon, Burgundy, France tonkin... Passion" of this trip. Barely had we rolled to a halt at the Domaine Michel Guitton when a lady of the establishment was out to meet and greet with the offer of a 'degustation'. We accepted and, once inside, were presented with a list. First was Petit Chablis at 8eu a bottle. Next was Chablis at 10eu followed by three others going over the 30eu mark. We asked to sample the 10eu bottle, duly produced from a cool box. very nice, we said - we'll have a ...
Beaune, Burgundy, France pennipistle... several attempts (and an hour of our time) to contact my Visa company to find that out.
Armed with some fresh yummies from the boulangerie, we hopped in our car to take in the Wine Route through Burgundy. It took us through fields of vines, quaint little villages, and a breathtaking stone cliff. We stopped at the Chateau Rochepot, a medieval castle destroyed in the Frech Revolution and partially restored ...
... Ric********firmed that he was happy that the new towel would manage his girth!!!!
Whilst returning to our luxury accomodation Kev and Richard somehow took another wrong turn and ended up in the land of the giants, accompanying pictures we feel will tell the story, however lets just say there was a napelion complex going on.
Returning to the room we woke Rip van winkle, showered and went of for a traditional French meal at the Taj Mahal.
... to say the least, but the next thing I knew...
...it was quarter-to-nine, Friday morning! We had blithely planned an early monring kick-off - but so much for bold plans! Still, by 10.15 we had hit a Carrefour supermarket for munchies, filled up with diesel (still seeming delightfully cheap!) and been amused by a regrettably named German coach in the supermarket car park. Soon we were heading south once more.
... room window but when I got outside it was quite grey. I thought to myself, **** it. If it rains it rains. I made it all the way to the open air market and then it did. I did a little shopping, but then decided to return to the hotel. Besides, what better opportunity to go to an internet cafe and write than when it is raining. I walked back in the rain and you know what? It wasnt so bad. Gave me a chance to let my mind wander for a bit ...
Dijon, France yokikat... place. What was really fun was the fact that could could pretty much climb all over these ruins. You could go into all the nooks and crannies were the animals and gladiators were held as well as all the passages ways that led to the arena from the stands. There was even a tunnel that led underneath the stadium you could explore. So much fun, and surprisingly well intact. After I ran around, we headed back into town to absorb more of the ...
Dijon, France tmcclurg... loch keeping and a key to the engine room! But Brian is doing fine. He is an old hand with the loch gates and did a good job at charming two Loch Chicks this morning. It must have been his shorts, because his French has not improved past 'la tableau'. Between Brian's tableau and Keith's l'addition; we can get a table and pay the bill. But Malcolm is needed for the rest. Wednesday is Janet's house keeping day so we spent the whole day out ...
Dijon, France jody1... cruise are great ways to explore the area. The Cathedral in the City and the European Parliament are also quite amazing. We had French Beer in a Russian style bar in what used to be a German Village. The worst thing we saw was Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) dubbed in French (Le Crikey!)...I can't even stand him in English. We trained upto Dijon which was a pleasant place, checked out the shops, walked down cobble stone paths, checked out ...
Paris, Strassborg, Dijon, France boydie... station, the other about 1Km away. Since I needed to plug things into the PC, update maps on my GPS, resize pictures and generally do the sort of stuff a booth quite rightly restricts you from doing. I went in search of the out of town cafe. It was not where the tourist information marked on my map. I asked around, followed rumours, denials and mixed up directions. I ended up stumbling upon it on it and I sat down for a few hours and ...
