... Dame Cathedral where we approached from the back of it where you could see the Flying Buttresses which have a span of 15m and walked along the Seine to the front where there was a line to get in but it was moving quickly. Pope Alexander III laid the first stone in 1163 and it took 170 years for it to be completed. The rose windows are beautiful. As you couldn't use flash and it was quite dark, it was hard to get good photos.
After looking ...
... it smells like **** everywhere. Tomorrow we are heading to Brussels. I talked to my dad on the phone today, that was nice. Gunna call again when I can talk to my mom too. Yesterday was Ritts birthday so we shouted out to her. Still miss everyone at home. - C Brown
Paris, France cbrown13... the bus stopped at the Arc de Triomphe end of the Champs-Elysees. Off I get, through the subway, buy my ticket, and 284 steps later I'm on top and totally puffed. But what a view. It's a 360 degree view of Paris. Now, I'm totally ignoring history here. I did listen carefully to the commentary, but I've actually forgotten most of it. I know the Unknown Soldier is buried there, but what I wanted to do is to go on top. Silly of me really, but thats what I wanted to do. I ...
Paris, France supalen... my train in Paris to take me away to Barcelona, Spain for a three night stay at an all-inclusive five star hotel complete with a spa, twenty four hour room service and a ocean view so amazing it puts most other European sites to shame...Not really though. My hostel will only give me linen for my bed and by no means a continental breakfast. All the shortcomings are shadowed by the fact that a warm ocean breeze will be sweeping the streets. Barcelona, here ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France mkal10berg... number of people on the subway for 5:30 in the morning. I had to jump on in those few seconds the doors stay open and shove my way in with my luggage. My large suitcase rested on my feet as I stood there packed in like a sardine. I didn't even sway with the movement of the metro cuz we were packed in so tight. We made it to Gare du Nord and barely onto the Eurostar train to London. We arrived in plenty ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France addicted2travel... know why I can remember that, but It's useless information unless I sort all my thoughts out by reading deeper while I'm still fresh from the experience. Then there's Karla. We've learned so much about each other during this journey, it's hard to go back to the way things were. I can't even remember how things were to be honest with you. Traveling with someone is so much different than traveling alone. I honestly couldn't have done this trip without her. I could have gone to ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France tbassplayer... arguably the grandest museum in the world. - Gaze upon the cheeky Mona Lisa (did she wink?), the sensuous Venus de Milo and wander through the opulent and majestic Napoleon III's apartments. Consider some of Napoleon's decorating tips should you ever become a gazillionaire. - Walk to cathedral Notre Dame along the river Seine under a clearing, pink twilight sky mottled ...
Paris, France canaussie... at the end of the movie Something's Gotta Give with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The restaurant was full of Americans - big shock! We started our meal with a glass of champagne, then Emma and I each had a bowl of Onion Soup au Gratin (huge portions!) while Matthew had a salad with warm chevre en croute. Emma and I shared the chateaubriand (which we ordered ...
Paris, France fitmomToday had a free day. There were a few wow moments around the joint with the arc du triumph and louvre. I tell you what, the mona lisa is a lot more impressive in person, but not just that, the art gallery is absolutely mammoth. That would have taken some serious building. Got ripped off today too (Alex is making me tell this story)... We went to the modern art gallery which had the main level closed, so as we were ...
Paris, France timontour... famous French are buried - for example: Victor Hugo, Voltaire, Jean-Pierre and Marie Curie. From there, we walked through the Luxemburg Gardens to St. Sulpice where the Rose Line and Egyptian oblesik are located. Both are mentioned in the Da Vinci Code book. The church had quite a few leaflets disclaiming what the book said. Nonetheless, it was quite interesting. After all the walking, we decided to relax in the area around our hotel. On Tuesday (our last day in ...
