... but we arrived back in Balen mid afternoon and went to the local pub for dinner...called De WaterKant ...its right on the canal and has a thatched roof and is quite nice. We had a chicken stir fry and frites .....way too much food. Then back to the house to pack. made sandwiches and fruit for the road tomorrow. Klaas built a nice fire before ...

      20 cartons of passata
      40 packets of instant noodles
massive pot of herbes de provence ...

... arrived at Givet, where we decided to stop for lunch. Found a nice little brasserie to have lunch at. Much cheaper than anything in Paris, where they obviously rip us off! Bruno and I have changed our impression of the French, as we have met some ...

... of them are scammers, but what if they are genuine? Isn't it a poor reflection of our religion?
Headed down to the main square to have some lunch and catch the next bus back to our hotel to meet Michael. While on the bus, we realised we would not make it back in time if we did the whole tour, so we decided to get off earlier and walk the rest of the way.
It was a fair hike to make it on time, but we got there just after five where Michael and Melinda were waiting.
