The Aire in St. Paul is being re-surfaced but note that apart from shop which closes at 19:30 there is nothing else in the village by way of facilities.

We must have passed signs for 100 Chateau or Caves in our evening journey through the heart of the wine region. The neat rows of the vines are such a beautiful sight.

We crossed over the Gironde and the Dordogne en-route the waters that are so essential to the Bordeaux heartbeat.

We got on a fast train this morning and took off in a southerly direction to a place called Cerons It only took about 15 minutes but doing around 240km an hour that's about 40 - 50 kilometres (Counting a few stops on the way).

It was a late lunch, close to 5pm actually, so more like dinner, on a shady terrace at the foot of the church literally carved out of the limestone rock by Benedictine monks a thousand years ago. We then said goodbye to Saint Emilion before heading out up the road a bit further to our overnight accommodation near Libourne.

... sweet red pepper, and a crispy sautéed head. We both did not eat the head, we hang our head in shame...... This was served with a glass of Chateau Charron "Acacia" 2010, Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux. Then we had Red Gurnard (fish) roasted, grilled octopus and a rice crisp. This was served with a Chateauneuf-de-Pape 2012, Domaine Saint-Prefert. This was followed by ...

... room snacks from a supermarket ,fruit, cheese, salmon etc. We then went to Bordeaux , where we found parking with difficulty. The centre is like any city, e.g. Oxford street. It had large buildings, parks, shopping centres ( like London ). We found an evening antique market in a park which was great but we never bought a thing! After a coffee we returned to the hotel but washed the car on the way. Diesel needed tomorrow but is about 1.29 euros per litre which is better than the ...
