I went just one day to Rennes. I thought it was really pretty since all of the houses are made of
rough stones, des maisons bretonnes typiques. Aussi, les maisons sont faites
toutes un peu croches, ca donne un petit style que j'aimais bien.
Et oui effectivement, il fait beau plusieurs fois par jour. It does rain a LOT.
There is mainly what is in every french city, bars, restaurants and shoe shops!
Been chopping some wood for the fire for the last 2 days with ayms cousins and family. 1 of ayms cousins has an old merc he doesnt need, so he has told us we can have it.
Its gonna cost qbout 400 euros to get in insured, mot and on the road, but im hoping rose and mickou will come and split the costs with us.
Petrol to tunisia through spain and africa will cost about 300 euros so its not too bad, hoping to get work in south of france next week to fund it.
Last night aymericks aymericks aunties and uncles came to the cottage with ANOTHER of ayms many cousins (i'm sure he has a factory where they make them), for his grans 85th birthday. Was a good night. But as much as i'm starting to feel at home here, i cant help feeling i want to move on. The excitement of being on the road and ...
... we counted only 4 people on our walk) I popped into a creperie to try the local buckwheat crepe. I ordered one with the lot - egg, ham and cheese. Not bad but doesn't match up to anything I have had at Manison du Scooby of late. Last stop in Vitre McWifi to upload our blog!
Vitre, Brittany, France darrenhough74... 19th century viaduct spanning high above the port. It was beer o'clock so we found the old towns bar street and settled ourselves down on one of the outside tables. We tried two local beers a Picon and Affligate. Picon a dark beer but tasting like it contained lemonade (hmmm not sure about that one) and Affligate which was like a blonde Leffe - this was a good choice ...
Dinan, Brittany, France darrenhough74... fun riding the subway in my breeches and riding coat. I had my breeches rolled up and running shoes on, but people still stare when they see you dressed like this (of course they also stare when you go outside without a coat in 20° weather, really 20° is not cold). I was late for my lesson, but someone helped me get my horse ready so I wasn't that late, but I managed to forget a crop. The instructor had me work over a ...
Rennes, Brittany, France vana30... to be exhausted but I foresee that the overall experience/attitude is going to be positive and I won't be wanting to leave. Because of all the early classes, I am tired. I get to bed around a decent hour but my days are long and classes are getting boring. Its just like it would back in the states but here, it feels weird because most of my classes are once a week. Therefore, the weeks go fast with new classes each day and we are getting closer and closer to finals. I actually ...
Rennes, Brittany, France jess06... class and stage 3. Possible visit to Nantes to use rail pass day and to see Kaley (PLU friend) 4. Spring Break The first week, my parents are going to be here, in Rennes! We are going to hang out, go on lots of day trips all over Brittany and catch up. I´m so excited!! My second week: I´m going to Ireland for four days. I´ll spend 3 in Dublin, one in Galway and would like to squeeze in tours of the country. After Ireland, I´m flying to London for two fast days for a whirlwind ...
Rennes, France jess06... in Rennes. We've just finished our Dimanche dejeuner. We had a fresh chicken from the farm with roasted potatoes. It was quite tasty. My host father showed me the proper "French" way to carve a chicken; little did I know the head was still attached to the chicken. It didn't sway my appetite but it still surprised me. My mom should also be proud of me because I ate two raw oysters before our main course. I told my host family that seafood is also very common in the Puget Sound ...
