After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... br>
Today's Royal itinerary takes us on a tour of Monaco, including old Monaco and the Royal Palace. It's uncertain whether the schedules of Prince Albert or Princess Caroline will allow for a meeting with Princess Lesia but our respective public relations staff are working on it!

The tour of Monaco-Ville, also known as Old Monaco included a walk through the narrow streets that once ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... right on the edge of Monaco. It is way up on a cliff over looking the sea and coastline. There we walked up more steps to an “Exotic garden” that is filled with Cactus and succulents from all over the world. Did you know that agave is native to this area. The gorgeous view, from above the sea and surrounding towns, was of the ships and sailboats and houses and apt., and all the way out to Corisca. There is an airport nearby and we were even above the airplanes. This ...
Antibes, Provence, France sasahartyWow what a change a TGV ride makes! We headed south to the coastal town of Antibes, former home of Picasso, for our first home exchange. For those of you new to the practice, we've arranged to stay in a home while the owners stay in ours. In our case, they will come to Seattle later in the year, but both of us will enjoy vacation without the hotel fees. Marie Therese and Michel, experienced home exchangers, welcomed us to their condo with a lovely lunch. The ...
Antibes, Provence, France jamierand... we sat in the train station where we witnessed some passport checks by scary, Italian policemen. At this point I was really glad that I had my friend Lina with me and decided that I wasn't the traveling alone type. About 45 minutes before my train, I was looking at the screen trying to figure out what "sorpressa" means and wondering why my train didn't have a platform number. A really pretty girl came up to us and asked a question about the train to Milan that Lina was ...
Antibes, Provence, France k1thomas... we later found the sun was shining until we brought the clouds back with us! The Gorges are an impressive sight with their huge limestone cliffs. The road was hair raising but not as bad as the Amalfi coast, although in parts almost, with the road cut under huge overhangs as it follows the River, often one lane. Have to sound the horn in a few places as well, but very well maintained. On the way back we stopped at the village of Castellane, one of the ...
Antibes, France bucksbeach... Never mind, such are the joys of travel. We then did get a shock when Patrick advised that because his wife had changed jobs they were not able to exchange as planned, she has no holidays available. The exchange was a special treat for her from Patrick, Patricia has always wanted to come to New Zealand. However we still had to stay and could he make a reservation for the following year. Naturally we agreed ...
