Today we got up and decided we would leave foe Genova, Italy where we are taking a Mediterranean cruise out on Friday. We went back and forth trying to decide the best way to get there. We were originally going to go back to Munich and fly out, but with Oktoberfest going on its very hard to find a place to stay, and we didn't know if we wanted to risk it having to fly standby. started to stroll. We had a coffee in a pavement café in front of
the arena, and wandered down the shopping streets until we came
across the market square. More coffee, or maybe beer followed.
Every street we turned down led to a hidden square, fabulous old
architecture or something else of interest. This city proved to be
the unexpected gem of the holiday and it was a pity we did not have

gates and another bar or two. At the end of a lovely day, we hiked
back to the hotel and sat on the roof top watching the sun drop in
the sky while drinking Prosecco. Our evening meal was in the pizza
restaurant near the hotel again. Unfortunately the friendly waiter
was not there again.
Having waited ten years
to see the Italian lakes, we were not disappointed. What a wonderful
place.
