... Diani we stayed in is basically a long row of beach resorts of varying fanciness. Our chalet fit 8 people in 4 rooms, had a large central living room and a small kitchen. Best of all was that the living room windows gave us a perfect view of the sparkling ocean. You can also see signs saying 'Do not feed the monkeys' from the window which refers to the many monkeys you see living in the trees around the resort. Within minutes of arriving ...

... the way. During my time at Olives, I reckon about 40% of the children did not have shoes and when I saw them walking over this glass, I couldn't help but grimace. I asked one little boy if his feet hurt, and of course, he said 'yes'. I think some part of me thought that maybe they'd have got used to it, but of course it would hurt to walk on glass and goodness knows what else.

It is far from ideal to visit a Park the size of Wales for just a day and I had been warned of the slim chance of seeing many animals. ... the two other GVI volunteers had planned a really good lesson. Noticeably, this Standard 3 was SO much better behaved than ours! Not sure whether this was just down to the children themselves (the threat of being sent to Madam Jane was enough to silence the entire class) or because the volunteers were better prepared....or maybe it was due to the fact that they weren't given balloons...most probably it was a combination of all three!
