... it goes something like this ....

We live about 2 miles outside Lucca and on a few occasions, have taken the car to a supermercato about 1 mile from the city, parked there, and walked the rest. Just around the corner and on the way, we found a lovely 'pasticerria', (a cake shop) and have been unable to walk past it without stopping there for a cappuccino and a brioche or something similar. This is essentially to be found in a straight line from our apartment, ...

... went to the cemetery next, which had some of the best statues I've seen in Europe..I ended up taking a lot of pictures here. Last stop was the cathedral, I was surprised with how large it was. I liked the cathedral overall, but I've seen better in Europe, so I consider it a bit over-hyped. Pisa has some great attractions, but it's really no more than a 3-hour commitment. If you are in Tuscany already, it's definitely worth a half-day trip.

The beach was very nice, though we sort of had to squeeze in to ...

... on bikes, and very little cars! We had read that it was discouraged to drive cars in the old city of Lucca, there was one funny incident where a tourist had obviously somehow taken a wrong turn and had turned into the main shopping street on a Saturday night... this street was very long and definitely ruled by pedestrians, who were glaring at this hapless tourist who once committed to the street had to keep going, as there was no room for 3 point turns on that ...

... which hosts an oak tree at the top. No explanation on why it’s there, but it served for the great panoramic scenes from the new camera Randy got me. That’s number 3 for me, if you’re keeping track, or 4 if you count the little one he got as a pocket model for himself, but that he never uses. Not much scandal other than the number of $20’s we invest on cameras, just a lovely weekend enjoying the food, wine, culture and ...
