The first call to prayer happens fairly early, around 4am, but it's tricky to get back to sleep, as the roar of bikes takes farmers off to harvest, and students off to school not long after. School starts at 7am and many kids make use of the couple of hours before school to let off bungers (I think it was part of the celebration of Ramadan)... you get used to it after a while...

Been discussing our next adventures which will likely be Bali and Thailand. Went out for some appetizers and beverages with some family members to a local establishment called Jardine's. Very open concept with a stage where bands played.
Later we went to pick up supplies for tomorrow’s boat excursion to a local beach island. Went for a car tour of Bandar Lampung.

Lazy morning, yes this is retirement. Light breakfast and caught up on the AirAsia plane crash. Ran some errands with our host and then went for a snack after lunch. Everybody went out for a New Year's Eve dinner (quite the feast) and then home to watch the fireworks which went on for many hours. Some dessert then everyone retired. I Skyped with my cousin in Birmingham, England.
