... is much smaller than other towns we have been to and easier for me to take in all the information. Germany is Roman Catholic so they use the churches in the towns and they have a lengthy history with the church. There is a religion tax of 10% to keep the churches in good shape. Some Germans chose to denounce their religion so they do not have to pay the tax - but ...

... We could hear it through the night because of the vibration that was caused on the hull. So we can continue on.

Today we were in three countries - Austria, Czech Republic and then Germany.

Passau's magnificent baroque St Stephen's Cathedral located on the highest point in old town. It was nearly destroyed by fire in 1662 when fire swept through the town. It was rebuilt and since 1928 has been home to the largest cathedral organ in the world. It has 17,974 organ pipes, 233 stops and four carillons. All five parts of the organ can be played at once or separately from the main keyboard.

After I finish this entry, a nap is next. I hope you all like the pics. Sorry, I'm not writing much. Its amazing how tired one can get walking around for just a few hours.

    Hope all is well.

A travel blog entry by mrandonian on Oct 06, 2015

We're going to do a total boat swap today with the Viking Var.

Next port on the original itinerary is Passau, Germany. However, the Danube in Passau is too shallow (by a few inches) for our boat to sail past so we are docked in Linz (Austrian side of impasse). The Viking Var is cruising in the opposite direction from ours and cannot get beyond the impasse from their location on the German side of the impasse. So ...
