... in a few months, a small segment of the public face of Terezin underwent a radical transformation.

A smattering of the young and healthy were put on extra rations and fattened up. Athletes also received an increase in their calories per day. Their bedrooms were freshly painted and no more than three to a room were in evidence while the reality was dozens were crammed into small barracks rooms before and after the visit.

... to Koenigstein. We found the Fusten Express to go up there for 3 euros per person. We didn't buy the return ticket...

We took an open top bus first then a little red train. The entrance fee for the fortress was 8 euros per person. It used a big lift that can fit 60 people or a car. The towers and fortress weren't too impressive. I grew tired listening to the audio guide :P The view was amazing. ...

The other interesting fact about Terezin is that the Nazis used it to parade around the Red Cross to show them how merciful they were treating the Jews, and that they weren't doing anything wrong (as rumours were flying about their mistreatment).
