... tried to push in front of us by coming in from the side. That is one thing I will not miss about Switzerland—whether it’s in a line for bread or at the Opera, people just walk up and budge in line. I can’t imagine what merging at a ski hill in the Swiss Alps is like! We ended up paying 20 Fr. for 270 Fr. front row box seats. We couldn’t believe what a deal it was! Europe certainly seems to treat their ...

... since 1873. There are numbers and corresponding descriptions in pamphlets of evidence that Switzerland was covered by glaciers from 2 million to 20,000 years ago. For example, we could see the potholes (the largest of which is 9.5 m deep and 8 m in diameter), boulders and glacial striations on the rock, as well as fossilised shells from the beach that sat there 20 million years ago and a palm leaf from when Switzerland was subtropical. We braved the cold once more a little later on to buy rolls and chips for dinner, then bunkered down for our early start. So, yesterday we woke at 7am (!!) to get to the station for the 7.54 train to Zurich. We made it by 7.30, but, of course, the train was delayed and didn't arrive until 8.15. We ended up being over an hour late into Zurich, but ...
