... the lunch hour began. The builders came in in hordes. Seated, supplied with bread and wine followed by pasta and then time to get back to work. We moved on and later found a great pizza place. Pizzas are good here (unlike Rome). We then followed Fabio's advice and caught the ferry into Como. We spent the afternoon walking about the main part of the city - lovely old buildings, huge Duomo (surprise!!), partially unfinished waterfront, shops ...

      Sparkling Lights in Lugano

We arrived in this beautiful city at dusk so we weren't able to get the most out of it. Stayed there only for one hour and we spent that time in Parco Civico capturing the flickering lights of the city surrounded by mountains. The view from the shores of Lake Lugano was fascinating. It's truly a must-visit city and I'd love to go back and see it in broad daylight. ...

The Cá Mea had wifi in the rooms and I had a chance to catch up with emails and make some calls, then I went downstairs for dinner, and though the restaurant looked average the food was just absolutely amazing! The wine maybe not so much, but when you finish with profiteroles with white topping it doesn't really matter.

... in the sun while looking at the lake.

I found a small roadside café on a hill overlooking the lake. The expresso was good! I sat there for a while soaking up the sun, but I knew I had a lot of driving to do if I was going to make it to Pisa before dark. Still without a GPS but I had written names of cities and road numbers on a piece of paper as a reference.

... you meet more people than travelling with a friend. I much prefer travelling on my own for this purpose. If I want to be left alone, I can do that and if I want to socialise, I can do that too. I really enjoyed, however, travelling with my best frient in Indonesia because we are exactly the same in our likes and dislikes so it makes for a perfect holiday.
