... drenched by the time we got back, so needless to say it was time for another glass of wine!
Our last day we spent exploring our little town, which is just starting to close up for the winter months, not to mention its harvest season so everyone who actually lives there is busy more important things! We even ventured across the river to Kaub, another cute medieval town.
Then we boarded another train to head to the airport... and off to Barcelona!

Arrive in Koblenz, situated on the beautiful corner at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. Your ...
... The waiter was actually the owner and he spoke English so we chatted a little and I watched soccer on the TV and also some spiked hair punks cause a scene and the police came and that was about it. So it was nice few drink layover in Koblentz. Back on the train to Bremen and on to Finland!!
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidierSo on the way to Trier, the train traveled right besides the Rhine River. It was AMAZING! The trip between Mantz and Koblenz was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. There were boats just traveling up and down the river and plenty of vineyards on the rolling hills along with river. Also every 4 minutes there was another town and a larger church in ...
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... I made it back to Cochem it was lunchtime and I was kind of mad that I’d spent so much time to go to Burg Katz. I kind of didn’t feel like doing anything else for the rest of the day, but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t at least go see Cochem.
So I walked to the main square, which was very pretty with half-timbered buildings. But the city itself felt too big. There were a bunch of retail stores and lots of ...

3. Boppard – a very pretty city
4. Marksburg Castle – probably the prettiest castle on the Rhine
5. Schloss Stolzenfels & Burg Lahneck – a palace and a castle across the river from each other
6. Ehrenbreitstein Castle – across the river from Koblenz
About halfway through the trip I started to get tired of being on the boat. The hills on each side of ...
... taking off from Nuremburg to go to Frankfurt, where he had a four hour layover before heading over to the US. So he could have taken the train with me the whole way to Frankfurt and probably caught an earlier flight.
Anyway, that leg of my train ride ended at Mainz, which was right on the Rhine River. From there, I caught a local train up to Bacharach. And it was my most eventful train ride so far. I was using my rail pass for the day, which lets me sit in ...
... p.m. but the actually start was 10 minutes delayed. The roads leading along the rock face into St. Goars were closed about 25 minutes prior to the fireworks. Having arrived by car, there was absolutely no parking space along the shores. But we were lucky. As a result of the road closure, the police approached us and asked us to turn off the engine and park the car in the middle of the ...
St. Goar, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany reisender... big day ahead.
By 10:30 we were headed on a scenic drive along the Mosel towards Burg Eltz. The Mosel was lovely and picturesque but it became an even nicer drive once we left the river and headed into the hills towards the castle.
Burg Eltz is unique in that it has remained intact for 700 years. Being in a valley helped protect it from attack and it is an incredible sight to see. Arriving by car you pay €1.50 to park ...
... Tuesday we came back to Germany (it's a four hour drive through the Netherlands, Belgum and the Netherlands again to get to the campsite). Manfred and Mieke had some friends turn up who were on their way home from canoe marathon races in Chechz Republic. They stayed a night and were an interesting couple. After they left we walked through Koblenz but it started raining on us so we had to cut the trip short. It took us three days to finally see and do all we wanted to in Koblenz. One day ...
