... to get ice cream for desert. We all met back up at the train station and headed home.

I really enjoy our little day trips, but they kind of throw a kink in the week. It just leaves you with one less day to work with, but hey, I’m in Europe, I don’t need time. I’ll have time when I get back to The States. We have a few more planned, one to the BMW Museum and another Infineon factory and possibly a few other museums. Oh, and hopefully a soccer game! That will be very fun!!

Danube-Main Canal

At Bamberg we left the Danube-Main Canal. The canal was completed in 1992 and allows ships to travel from the North Sea to the Black Sea. This connection had been dreamed of since Charlemagne tried digging one in the 8th century. Another attempt was made in the 1800s but the advent of the railroad doomed it. It took 20th century technology to make it possible. The canal itself has 34 locks out of the total of ...

Go Icetigers Go!

... the game. First of all, the germans know how to cheer!!! An arena seating maybe 10000 with more cheering then a Habs game! Each player was announced and all the fans chanted their last name! They had intricate drumming and clapping cheers! It was really fun to get into even though we couldn’t always follow or understand! By the end we were swinging our scarves around and shouting the players names ...

... older feel to it. The center of the city is pretty small and can be walked around in an hour. Outside the walls is a very industrialized city which we didn’t take to much time to see. In every German city there is a Hauptmarkt. This is the town square where there are usually marlets and exhibitions going on. They were selling lots of fruits and veggies and handmade stuff. Its fun to see what each ...

Trapped in podunk Germany!!!

So now Im in Germany. Weve been on the bus for about two full days and its wreaking havoc on my stomach. I havent felt right since I left Switzerland.

I did get to do some shopping, and the food has been pretty good so far.

Thursday, we left Switzerland for what was supposed to be a 4 hour bus ride to the Black Forest to see a cuckoo clock factory (it was cool, but the clocks were too expensive).
The ride turned out ...

... avert future danger.' It is good that this remembrance in the Federal Republic of Germany has constantly been intensified since 1945. In order to prevent that the evil events of the year 1938 will ever be forgotten, the citizens of Bad Windsheim have donated this stone to commemorate Windsheim's former Jewish citizens, and I am grateful for this as it expresses the commitment to never, anywhere, at any time, let it happen again. As Mayor of Bad ...

Unpacked and Settled in Bad Windsheim

... But I was already in Ansbach and the consultant I was replacing was a delightful, bright, enthusiastic woman from Oregon who provided me with 72 hours of adjustment to loss and grief counseling as she walked my jet lagged, sleep deprived body around the base and over the endless back streets and hiking trails of Bad Windsheim. We shared stories and laughter while she assured me that after 6 isolated weeks I would be talking to the bathroom fixtures. As most of ...

"What's so special about that place?"

... the only information I could find about this brave knight was in German. But I did find out that it is a war memorial of some kind. I think it's pretty cool looking. It was now getting very dark so I figured I better be heading back. The bike ride from here on out was much easier because it was almost all down hill. After getting lost once I found my way back to my parents house. I now eagerly await tomorrows destination... Berlin.
