We arrived in Klaipeda around 3-4 in the afternoon and checked in to our hotel. Stefan took us into the centre of town where they had all these cute chairs and umbrella's with two huge screens up so everyone in the town could come and watch EuroBasket, the European cup of Basketball. ... a backpacker who was in the same dorm room as me in Klaipeda and we went exploring together. We checked out the sand dunes, a massive sun dial, and other things like the local lighthouse.



The next morning I rode right down to the Russian border - only about 3 km away and then headed back to the ferry. Apart from getting caught in a few quick rain storms it was a pretty fun few days and also exhausting.

The excellent Baltic Sea Pilot states ' Klaipėda is a friendly, pleasant town, not without charm’ and I think we would agree, what we saw of it in the two hours that we wandered around.
