... to others and we seemed to be at the nothing end of town. While we are travelling independently we had a travel agent organise our itinerary as we were too busy to do it all ourselves which is what we normally do. The down side is that they may not always get hotel selection to your liking, especially if a control freak like moi! A bonus is the 24 degree temperature, and the squawking crows, and the grass is browned off like they have had no ...

There was also a soup cooked on individual cookers containing fish, eggs, and vegetables and a few exotic dishes including jelly fish, some kind ...

... to the visitor centre which is at the base of the smoking volcano. From here we were going to catch the last bus of the day down to Aso. We had heard from another backpacker that it was easy to hitchhike back down to town so we decided to start walking and if we had no luck, the bus would pass us. After at least 20 minutes of walking there was no sign of the bus and not many people were passing. Finally our luck changed. ...

Day 121 This morning we had an early start to get the bus to Kurokawa where the ryokan is we are staying in. The journey was beautiful through green mountains. We stopped at a service station with loads of food samples so I gorged myself! I love this about Japan. It started raining and by the time we got to Kurokawa it was pouring. Something naughty happened...we got the bus for free...by accident! We had booked by telephone and it was pretty pricey. When we got off, so did ...
