In our search for somewhere further still off the tourist trail we transited through the uninspiring port town of Padangbai to catch the ferry to the island of Nusa Penida. What attracted us was its complete lack of tourist infrastructure which is a refreshing change in travel. We got chatting a local from the island whilst waiting for the ferry to arrive. Kadek was travelling across with his family after visiting mainland Bali for supplies for his shop. After sharing stories on the ...

... who I will be sharing the same flight towards Frankfurt with on Thursday. I ended up working double shift at reception at the hostel, played guitar with the locals twice and, though dinner was always amazing, I ate out because I didn't see why I should pay 29.000 if I can have Indonesian Nasi Campur for 12.000 Rp. When the plane was about to land this morning, I started crying. A sudden wave of uncertainty came over me. What am I doing?? Alone in the house, nothing to do?! What if something happens?! I felt numb when we landed and I exited the aircraft. Until the moment I said 'selamat pagi', good morning to the toilet cleaning lady and she smiled it back at me. Right there my day brightened. And then the ...

Happy Easter to all my lovely friends and family from a very sunny Bali!

Everyone did their own thing; Jen got up to go diving, Eva and Jenny went surfing again, Niko and myself had a leisurely morning and had a morning by the pool. We then all reconvened for lunch, went for a walk around the backstreets of Nusa Lembongan, took pictures on the beach and popped to the shop.

4pm came around and it was time to head back to Padangbai ...
