Living the Mandala

... for some spectacular trekking. Climbed Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, which was a real gem.

Marrakesh was a vibrant pace after small town life and I really enjoyed wandering the souks and Djemma el-Fna, making friends with locals while sharing tea and scrubbing away the old me at the hammam. I didn't realize how much of a true taste of Moroccan culture and ...

How sweet it is...

... with another girl named Laura, who hosts here.  My room has sea views and I can hear the surf from my room (as well as all the other sounds of Moroccan music and activity, in particular the goats wandering the alleys).

I'll be here till mid August, then I'll travel the country for a bit.  I have two retreats I'm leading in July and there's still space--come join!

Om Shanti,
Heather

Sixth Day - Free day

... way I spent this day. Of course, I swam a lot... The Ocean is such a paradise... When you enter the water, it feels very cold, but as you enter farther, you got used to it and it feels normal. The Waves! They are really big, it's so fun to greet them with your body... Cool water brings a new kind of freshness to you... And then, when you go to the beach, the water becomes more and more warm, and closer to the beach it ...

Fourth Day - watching more hotels

... Green. Has the only real SPA in all Agadir. Has grand conference rooms. Has lots of restaurants, cafe's, Facilities. Really Impressed. Rooms are ok though, nothing unusual, just good. Here we stayed for a free lunch, which was great, Yummy=)))

Lunch is over, time to work again.

Adrar Agadir 3* - Awful pool, rooms are good.

Argana 4* - Pool is simple, rooms are okay. But the view from the window is awful. Though the hotel ...

Second day - watching the hotels

... flashes of sun beams looks so beautiful while the cold breeze touches your body...
Just behind the hotel lies the walkway along the oceanshore, and after it lies the sand before the ocean itself. The beach is municipal, but some hotels (and ours too) buy some land on it to give their clients a place where they can lie, the chaise-longs, the towels and all that stuff ;)

After my lonely morning and a breakfast in hotel's main restaurant ...

Going South again

... the front seat, plus the driver. Cheap but not very comfortable, though it ensures close contact to the locals. It was already late and after waiting a long time, I ended up buying three seats and off we went. It was pitch dark, nobody spoke a word and there I was in Morocco. One of the other passengers knew exactly where my hotel was but then he didn't, so I ended up gone way too far in a ...

beach day at Agadir and onto Essaouira

... coast to begin with and then we headed inland - stopping at an Argun oil making factory along the way. We saw how the nuts are shelled, then crushed then grinded into this brown sludge. The 4 ladies who were doing this broke into song and whistled, screamed and sung there way through something we could not understand but they were great.! We made it onto Essa just after 5 and checked into the Hotel Sahara then had a quick ...

Day 7 : Agadir - Oued Ma Fatma

In the morning we met Inaki and Maite, the spanish couple from San Sebastian with which we agreed to to keep in touch as they're going to Senegal. We also organised to meet for lunch and then agreed to camp together on the cliffs of Oued Ma Fatma (although I had enventually prefered to stay in the previous one). There we camped on the ...

Bob, Bing,Tut and Dan

"You see Dorothy, you're not in Kansas any longer". I'm not sure that's exactly how the quote goes but it seems appropriate here in southern Morocco. Everything that we had grown accustomed to in Europe, all the day to day consistencies like the euro, bankomats, breadshops that we take for granted are gone. Morocco moves by a different beat and although only 17miles from Europe across the straight of Gibraltar, it might as well be a thousand. The ...
