...Southeast Asia...a Day in the Life....

I mentioned in my last blog how this return to Chiang Mai was so familiar to us this time around. Yet when I decided to start blogging again, navigating the rather arduous task of sorting my pictures, I realized that being familiar with something and actually living it day-to-day are not within the same spectrum. While my eyes and camera capture these SE Asian images of life, it oftentimes still feels like a movie right in front of me and there is always a disconnect.

    Sa wa dee ka, Thailand!

A travel blog entry by g2lumi on Jun 08, 2014

... the old city character and temples of Chiang Mai that I'd read about in travel blogs and guide books, but as we drove through the darkened, nearly empty streets of the city imposed by the Royal Thai Army's 12 - 4 a.m. military curfew, I was dozing against the window after a couple turns and stoplights. We arrived at the hostel - Bunchen Hostel and Art Gallery - and I groggily grabbed my bag from the taxi and walked off the street as Stephen took care of the taxi fare. I hadn't really ...

We had lunch round the corner before we decided to get some authentic t-shirts that were typical of the north of Thailand. We ...

... switched with him and sat on the end. As a reward for my good deed a ladyboy dancing to Britney gave me a brief lap dance where I screamed and nearly fell off my chair but otherwise played it cool. Afterwards pictures are taken but it is important to note if you take a picture with them, they do expect a tip as this is how they make their money.

The night had been hilarious, chaotic and bizarre: a good way to sum up my experience in Thailand so ...

Journey from Bangkok to Ko Chang

... 5 hours, we pulled up onto the ferry and were told to vacate the mini bus. We sat upstairs on the ferry and looked at the views surrounding us as the sun was going down on the cliffs of Ko Chang. The ferry journey took 20 mins max so wasn't long before we were on the move again. We travelled up the steep cliffs on the island by the same mini bus. 10 people in a gutless mini bus trying to climb vertical hills!! Not a good match. We ...
