this trip was very special to me,because it was the first one after I finally finished with school and had the freedom to do everything I want, without anybody else controlling me!the only thing I wanted to do is find a nice place with great people to relax and so I did.i met many interesting people and it was a journey to remember!
Naxos, Cyclades, Greece malena.drelaWell, a very enjoyable last night in Santorini. had dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sunset strip. Pity it wasn't the clearest of nights but still spectacular.
Dinner consisted of grilled pork with pureed red pepper and potatoes with cheese and Souvlaki Lamb with baked potato.
A 5.00 am start got us on to the flight to Athens then Rome.
After a sleep in we wandered into town to choose a suitable location for our anniversary dinner tonight (21 years!).
As usual we just had to take more photos ~ don't worry, after a few more tonight this will be all of Santorini.
Next, Italy where the forecast is 0 to 14 degrees. BRR BRR
The weather has improved remarkably, the wind dropping from the 40 knot+ from yesterday as we set off on the sailing vessel "Captain Yannis". We departed Amoudi Wharf and motored to Nea Kameni, the volcano island, where we saw the evidence of eruptions dating back to 1630 BC.
That first eruption was 70 times larger than Krakatoa in Indonesia and produced a tsunami 250m high!
The most recent eruption was in 1950 and even today we could see hot steam venting from the ...
... route there along the east coast of the island. I took a turn driving the ATV and had a blast! Then we stopped in Oia and had a look around. The views are awesome and the little village, perched on the hill, is filled with white buildings and hidden staircases. We headed back to Fiora and managed to walk down without getting run over by a donkey.
Corfu was nice as well but as Steve said, very different. It was very green and the sandybeaches were some of the ...
... br>a little group of 8, plus our captain. It is a wonderful little quirky
group, with interesting personalities and dynamics. To start -
there is a lovely young couple from Boston who are never shy to keep
the conversation going and display most all of the positive qualities
of friends to the south - warm, hospitable and always good for a laugh!
I quite adore them! There's Cynical Sadie, an over weight and overly
sceptical school ...
... the pool and beach relaxing. On my second day I went on a kayaking trip where we paddled for several hours, out of the bay to a private beach. Along the way we had a bbq and stopped at some spots to do cliff jumping in to the ocean. After three nights of camping, my back was hurting and after three nights of partying my whole body was hurting so I decided it was time to move on, to what I thought was my next stop: Paros Island. I booked the ferry to Paros, but ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece j.mccraryNo, I haven't fallen overboard a Greek ferry. I am alive still. I've just been so busy suntanning and really doing absolutely nothing I haven't really gotten around to this yet. So this will be the lamest entry yet as I still don't feel like sitting here and typing. Ios is not nearly as good as Lagos, but it is still slower season so things haven't picked up yet. It's an awesome place though, and you will be lucky if I don't chuck it all in and just stay on this island and ...
Ios, Greece steph_444... curry with 3 girls from Singapore who were also staying there. I'm actually toying with the idea of moving there and dancing on the street corner for swiss francs. I might acutally do it. Scotland and the Scottish countryside were great as well. I spent two nights in this little cottage in the middle of nowhere with 5 Scots and had a blast BBQ'ing and playing drinking games. I spent time in Paris with my ...
Ios (an island you douches), Greece redrevolverThis is the life. Today, I got up around noon, went to the beach, had a couple of beers, went to find a sandwich, was charged around 50 cents for a tuna sandwich(!). After lunch, I went back to the beach, hung out for a little while and then got ready to go to the clubs. Tomorrow, I suspect the whole day will repeat itself. This is the life.
