... dark even after. The stallions are for the first 3 years kept in the stables near Postojna, after the selection is done, just the best ones are not castrated, poor horses... the mares are used just for cart pulling, approx. untill 25 years old, after they retire ad they live happily in the stables till they are 32-35 years old. All breeding is done by insemination, no natural sexual pleasures, again poor horses... there is also a beautiful little church ...
Lipice Slovenia, Ličko-Senjska, Slovenia romaletour... night now), he also tells us about the castle we are going to visit tomorrow. Its fun, we all enjoy it, at the end he gives us his address, we are SO going to send him a postcard!

After her bicycle trip Alena eats everything and more from the dinner her lovely boyfriend prepared for her, the fridge is not working anyway... Then she goes to sleep with sore stomach, who would expect that...
Volcje, Trebnje, Slovenia romaletour... main house with the mill behind... Finally someone turned up with the key and we got out some tables and chairs and it was picnic time. It was weird to see so many that I'd seen before in Hobart, out in the country-side in Croatia.

And inside the house? Family pics of course.

And once I had a closer look I even found some familiar faces...

<br ...
Donji Oštrc, Zagrebačka, Croatia budz888... Karl who was able to get me the number of Joe's daughter-in-law who's also traveling in Croatia. She was able text me Slavko's number.

Anyway, Slavko came in from near Slovenia to pick me up and go for a drive. It was of course rather weird actually seeing him in Croatia. Somehow it seems out of context. It's also funny being in the situation where it's him speaking to the locals without an accent and I'm the strange foreigner...<br ...
Sutla, Zagrebačka, Croatia budz888... little apartment just under the massive monolithic mountain which makes us think of Half Dome as well. Everything is easier to explain in similies but things are what they are everywhere and as much as we are reminided of many of the beautiful things we have seen in our lives, it has a uniqueness and sense of calm that cannot be described in other terms. There is a green lushness all around, encouraged by the rains which ...
Sredna vas bohinj, Slovenia timandtracy... out the piccies. From here, I headed up to the oldest part of the town where St Mark's church is - probably one of the most famous sights of Zagreb is the mosaic on the roof of the church which is the Zagreb city emblem and also the coat of arms for Croatia, Dalmatian and Slovania. Surprise surprise, there were ruddy stairs to climb, but I found it easily, and there were about 3 other tourists around, where the hell was everybody?! If only it had been like this at the ...
Zageb, Croatia hels_belles... we had those ultra-wide angle lenses as we were able to capture the entirety of the city with its lovely red rooftops! From the top of the wall we looked down on the old town, which has 14 small streets all interconnected and meeting in the center of old town. We noticed this adorable older woman... KNITTING! (Gaily - you would have screamed and run down the stairs - she was TOO darn cute!). We zoomed in on her for a few shots and continued up to the top of the wall, the ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia rlineuropeToday we visited the Skojan caves which are about an hour south west of Ljubljana. Due to over estimating the distance and time, we arrived promptly over an hour before the first tour set off. Time for a coffee then to wake us up. The caves were made up of the silent caves (those without water) and the whispering caves which had a river running through them. The silent caves were filled with beautiful stalactites, pillars and stalagmites and the guide turned ...
Ljubljana, Slovenia markandrebecca... how is the English drinking culture so different? Today we have done a more extensive tour of the town and this afternoon we will head back for a swim and a BBQ this evening. The campsite organises entertainment every evening. Tonight it is fashion night and tomorrow is "sexy night" so Mark will at last have the opportunity to show off his new leopard print thong! Photos available on request.... Bye for now xxxx
Ljubljana, Slovenia markandrebeccaHaving crossed the border and getting a stamp in the passports (hurray!), we decided to break the journey to Ljubljana with a overnighter at the spa town of D. Toplice. The campsite fee included entry to the famous spa where we spent three hours relaxing in the pools. We also paid the extra ...
