manic-trip
... how that many people got here, & where they stayed, etc, once they did. Press on to Igoumenitsa. Forecast not much better for next 3 days - and no boat to Italy that will allow us to stop off in Corfu. Ah well... starting to feel like things are coming to a slow end. We book for Bari for the following morning & do our best to amuse ourselves in uninteresting port!
Igoumenitsa, Epirus, Greece marcdolav... for historo-visit. Main attraction is Its Kale, former fortress of Ali Pasha. The City of Ioannina
Situated at an altitude of 470 m above sea level and 436 m from Athens, Ioannina is the largest of the Region. Stretching along the western banks of the Pamvotis Lake, it is renowned for its beauty, scenic sites and plethora of flora and fauna.

... on the island because there are no cars, and the only way to get out there is by boat--the cars have a little area on the mainland to park and there is a ferry that brings the people to the island. There are several monasteries on the island, as well as Ali Pasha's last house (he hid on the island when he defied the Turks). We got to go inside one of the monasteries, but couldn't take pictures. The walls were 100% covered in various frescoes depicting the life of ...
