The island is tall, very steep, full of dark stratigraphic rock layers (Blake was in geoscience heaven), with the all-white towns way up at the top. From far away, it almost looks like snow caps covering mountain peaks. The island is considered a 'caldera' which is a volcano that has had a major eruption, collapsing the mouth of the volcano.
