    ... it was like something out of Huckleberry Finn. A shallow creek, reeds lining the bank, mud being stirred by the outboard motor. It would not have been a surprise to have seen a paddle steamer complete with banjo players coming the other way.

    ... the mighty Danube splits into many distributaries. There are three main channels and we are camping in Murighiol on the southern -most channel. It’s still a huge river. The others are less accessible as there are not many crossing points.

    ... a win-win. Honey for sale everywhere on the roadside and very healthy crops our farmers would be pretty happy with. On our approach to Lochel (small town in the mid north for those not familiar with South Aus) I asked Darren to pull over so I could take a photo.     ... Sea. As soon as we reached the first beach we saw nothing but construction of houses and roads. Our quarter for the night was in the historic port town of Constanta. We stayed in the Palace Hotel, a huge old house that had seen better days. The lobby was still looking posh with lots of marble but our room must have been the servant’s quarter on the top floor: small, no working AC and a bathroom the size of a match box.
